Buyant Tal arrived with a reputation and has spent his young career living up to it. Undefeated as a two-year-old, the black colt from the Steppe thunder line is the kind of horse that draws crowds to the start line.

His team is deliberately patient, resisting the temptation to over-race a horse of obvious talent. The aim, they say, is the grand races of the seasons to come.
